PR LP 5.1: La Galga to Cubo de la Galga

An insight into the hike:

PR LP 5.1 begins on GR 130 near the coast and first passes through La Galga. San Bartolomé, its church and village lanes show the inhabited east side before the route crosses LP-1 and enters humid forest via Pista del Monte. With every metre gained, the vegetation becomes denser and more primeval.

Inside Cubo de la Galga, laurel trees, ferns and tall tree-heath create a green amphitheatre. A variant via Mirador Somada Alta adds an airy viewpoint to the forest experience. Light, mist and moisture can transform the atmosphere within minutes.

The published route covers 6.6 kilometres, 635 metres up and 257 down, ending at Pista del Monte. Anyone walking back to the starting point or bus stop must add roughly three kilometres and the necessary time. Wet roots and stones make grippy footwear important.
