There are not many classic loop hikes right nearby, but there are pleasant walks, for example from the town centre down to the harbour, along the promenade or through the town between banana fields and coastal viewpoints.

A key highlight is the patron festival of San Miguel Arcángel in September. It features elaborate floats, a Romería followed by a Verbena, a major fireworks display and the famous “Caballos Fufos” dance, colourful paper horses that “ride” through the streets. On 15 August, the beach of Puerto de Tazacorte hosts the “La Morena” celebration in honour of fishermen’s wives, with lots of music and water fun. On the night of 23 June, San Juan is celebrated on the beach with traditional bonfires and a witches’ dance.

Tazacorte regularly hosts a large Love Festival, usually in the harbour area of Puerto de Tazacorte. It is known for concerts with many well-known musicians and attracts visitors from across the island. It is also considered one of the largest and most LGBTQ+ friendly events on La Palma, bringing a lively atmosphere and nightlife around the harbour.

Tazacorte is almost completely surrounded by banana plantations. Banana farming is the main economic sector alongside fishing and tourism. There is a Banana Museum (Museo del Plátano) where visitors learn about the history, cultivation and importance of bananas on La Palma.
