Mirador Las Cabezadas in La Palma – Hidden viewpoint with panoramic views over the Valle de Aridane
Mirador Las Cabezadas in La Palma – Hidden viewpoint with panoramic views over the Valle de Aridane
The Mirador Las Cabezadas in Tijarafe is considered one of the most beautiful hidden viewpoints in the west of La Palma. Several viewing points, open views over the Valle de Aridane, the Caldera de Taburiente, La Punta and, on clear days, even as far as the Tajogaite volcano make this place a special destination for travelers, hikers and photographers.
Mirador Las Cabezadas – Breathtaking panoramic views over the Valle de Aridane and the Caldera de Taburiente
The Mirador Las Cabezadas is one of the most beautiful yet still relatively unknown viewpoints in the west of La Palma. Many visitors know the famous Mirador El Time located between Los Llanos de Aridane and Tijarafe, but only a few minutes above it lies a viewpoint that even many visitors to the island have not yet discovered. High above the Barranco de las Angustias, a spectacular view opens up over the entire Valle de Aridane, the impressive cliffs of the Caldera de Taburiente and the west coast of the island around Tazacorte. Precisely because this viewpoint is not yet a typical tourist stop, it is considered by hikers and locals to be a true hidden gem.
Three viewpoints and a panoramic bench
In fact, this is not just a single viewpoint. Along the short access path there are three small viewpoints located at different elevations.
Each of these spots offers a slightly different perspective of the landscape. From one location you can look impressively into the Barranco de las Angustias, while another viewpoint opens up wide views across the Valle de Aridane all the way to the coast.
Particularly beautiful is a bench located slightly below the main viewpoint, next to a small building. From here you have an open view over the district of La Punta and deep into the Caldera de Taburiente.
This place is perfect for a short break during a walk or hike — a peaceful spot to enjoy the landscape and take in the panoramic views.
From here you can also identify many landmarks of the island: the Valle de Aridane, the coastline around Tazacorte, the Caldera and also the new volcano Tajogaite, which emerged in 2021.
Under the right weather conditions, visitors can also observe the famous Cascada de Nubes, the so-called cloud waterfall.
