Fiestas de Candelaria in Tijarafe – Tradition & Spectacle on La Palma

Every late summer, Tijarafe on La Palma celebrates the Fiestas de Candelaria in honour of the Virgin of Candelaria, the town’s patron saint. Between 21 August and 8 September 2025, locals and visitors enjoy sports tournaments, concerts, exhibitions, religious events and, as the crowning moment, the spectacular Danza del Diablo. A tradition that blends culture, faith and joie de vivre in a unique atmosphere.

11–12 August – Padel tournament (men & women)
16 August – Fishing meet & coastal clean-up (in memory of Juan Roberto Cáceres)
19 August – Chess tournament, Envite card competition
21 August – Floral offering & flag raising, opening gala
22 August – “Guajira y Punto”: Cuban culture, gastronomy & live music
23 August – Classic car showcase, veteran football triangular
24 August – Wine tasting, 52nd International Punto Cubano Festival
25 August – “Transformación” exhibition, summer cinema (“Puss in Boots: The Last Wish”)
26 August – Book presentation “From the Canaries & La Palma to Cuba”, summer cinema (“Inside Out 2”)
27 August – Video game tournament, concert “Azúcar, caña, fuego y sal” (Tijarafe Choir)
28 August – Video game tournament, concert “Atlantic Sounds” with Olga Cerpa & Mestisay
29 August – Regional folklore festival
30 August – Tennis tournament, 4x4 show, Noche Típica with music, dance & Canarian food
31 August – Las Cabezadas hill climb, children’s parade & kids’ festival
1 September – Inflatables & water fun for kids
2 September – Seniors’ Day (concerts, music & dance)
3 September – Wine tastings, tasters’ contest, Municipal Band concert
4 September – Youth football, pilgrimage to the Virgen’s Cave, “Kolorama” night festival
6 September – Mariachi Festival
7 September – 101 Brass Band, masses, Gran Verbena & the Danza del Diablo
8 September – Feast of the Virgin of Candelaria with solemn procession & fireworks
14 September – Outing & mass at the Sanctuary of Las Nieves (Santa Cruz de La Palma)

- Noche Típica: table reservation required (minimum 4 people)
- Danza del Diablo: arrive early – the square fills quickly
- Access: limited parking in the centre – plan to arrive in good time
